Is it REAL or is it AI?

AI is a wonderful tool that is being used in ways that will help all of us to be more productive. But there is a growing number of examples where AI is being used maliciously to influence viewers or readers.  Whether it is simulating the voice of a celebrity or politician, creating a fake video of a real person, or writing an article, AI is becoming harder and harder to differentiate from reality.

How can you be assured that the message you receive is actually real?

Here are some quick steps:

1 - If it is not consistent with other messaging from the same person or source, it is most likely AI and should be reported.

2 - If the message is an offer that seems too good to be true, it is most likely fake and should be investigated.

3 - If the message is asking you to click or provide personal information, DO NOT click or disclose your information - instead check with the authentic source outside of the message.
